A successful business is a profitable business. It is a business that earns more than it spends on a consistent basis. In the world of social media, many entrepreneurs LOOK like their business is successful, but the truth is, most digital entrepreneurs are simply trying to keep the lights on at home while figuring out how to make their business "work."

The glitz, glamour, and filters of social media make having thousands of followers seem like success.

Others believe having high engagement equals success. Actually, neither of those are indicators of the financial success of a business. What makes a business successful is when those followers are converted to customers or clients. High engagement only means people enjoy the topic of discussion. The question is, have you given them a way to support you by spending money on whatever you are discussing? Whether through ad sales, affiliate marketing, or direct sales to the customer, your social media account does count if it does not help to make you money!
